Couldnt really get into it
As a career law enforcement officer who retired as a captain and now manages a regional office for a mid-size company, I find this book extremely enlightening. The comparison between law enforcement and private business and how the analagy can help managers is right-on.
A scintillating insider's look at the workings of law enforcement, politics and human nature, with an eye toward managing your day to day business. A fun and interesting read.
Very interesting way to explain management with police experientes. The examples are vivid and help the reader to easily understand the main ideas.

As a retired FBI Special Agent myself, "Walking the Corporate Beat", is a book I wish I had read before I retired from the FBI and joined the "corporate" world. I found several really powerful ideas for more effective leadership and management. Those ideas were reinforced by Tabman with some very good examples from his law enforcement career.
Throughout the text, Tabman provides real world practical examples for managers and worker bees alike on how to survive and thrive in the corporate world. Overall, it is an excellent book for any level of management. Easy to comprehend and covers a lot of territory.
Really good book..Easy to read....great at helping the reader discover some of the hidden truths about unforeseen
personal dynamics that can take place in any organization, and how not to be unaware about different behaviors
and issues that may arise when you least suspect them on a daily basis...I think that you will be wiser by
reading this book....Also, the writer has very interesting things to say about policing, which I think the public
needs to be aware of, before they are taken in by biased media reporting from some quarters!!!
